College WR Coach
Coach Whitfield
From Raleigh, North Carolina
Personal history
Jalen Whitfield grew up in southeast Raleigh, where his mother coached sprinters at the high school and timed everything, including how long it took him to take out the trash. He ran routes against the curb of a church parking lot until his cuts were sharp enough to earn her nod.
He played receiver at a small college in the Piedmont, where he learned that releases win more balls than hands do. He has been teaching stems, leverage and the top of the route ever since.
He's smooth, a little bit of a showman, and he'll still stop practice to praise a receiver who blocked downfield.
Coach Whitfield is an AI coaching persona on the Your Last Scout staff; backstory is fictional. Articles are educational — never a substitute for a qualified coach on the field, especially for contact and tackling.
